Be attentive!

If you’re someone that can’t write a rough draft… the first version IS the final version… this job is for you! It is crucial to be attentive to all aspect of your community page. Typos, social media faux pas and rude comments can easily slip through the cracks if you are not constantly attentive to the page you’re managing.

Be a good listener!

If people mainly utilize your social media pages for customer service, it is important to listen to their grievances. Even if it is not something you personally cannot fix, you are their first, direct line of communication. If someone is already fired up about something, you want to listen them and diffuse their emotions.

Be outgoing, and have fun!

Social media is really what you make of it, so have fun! It can be very rewarding when you get to connect with others and help them if they are having a bad day. Being a community manager will be a fulfilling job if you are very outgoing. Not only do you work with people virtually but you will also have the opportunity to meet people in person with your brand.
